Proverbs 28

13  He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

14 Blessed is the man who always fears the LORD, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.

Dear God, I pray, give me the honesty and humility to own up my faults, failures and sins, which are grave and many and seek Your forgiveness. Lord, help me not to fall into temptation and commit sin. For all sins are against You, others and myself. You have said, ‘If I conceal my sin or continue to live in sin, I will not prosper’.

Lord, if I happen to sin, let me not live in sin and under Your condemnation any length of time but immediately repent and forsake and seek Your forgiveness. I thank You, for with You is plenteous pardon to all those who truly repent and turn to You from their sins. Lord, I turn to You with my whole heart. Forgive me, receive me.

Isaiah 1

18 "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

19 If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land;

20 but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword." For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

Dear Lord, I hear Your gracious call. I come to You with all my sins, faults and failures. You know them already. Please take them away from me and make me clean. I claim Your promise, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool”.

Matthew 3

1 In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the Desert of Judea

2 and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

5 People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan.

6 Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.

7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.

9 And do not think you can say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.

10 The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

11 "I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

Dear Lord, help me to confess and repent and turn away from my wicked ways. You expect me to show the fruits of repentance in my life. May Your Holy Spirit help.

Psalm 51 CONTEMPORARY ENGLISH VERSION (CEV)

1 For the music leader. A psalm (of confession of sin) by David when the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba. You are kind, God! Please have pity on me. You are always merciful! Please wipe away my sins.

2 Wash me clean from all of my sin and guilt.

Dear Lord, please have pity on me. You are always merciful! Please wipe away my sins. Wash me clean from all of my sin and guilt.

3 I know about my sins, and I cannot forget my terrible guilt.

4 You are really the one I have sinned against; I have disobeyed you and have done wrong. So it is right and fair for you to correct and punish me.

Dear God, It is against You that I have sinned and done wrong. I deserve Your punishment. But because You are merciful and gracious, forgive me, I pray.

5 I have sinned and done wrong since the day I was born.

6 But you want complete honesty, so teach me true wisdom.

7 Wash me with hyssop until I am clean and whiter than snow.

Dear Lord, I come in complete honesty and admit all my sins to You. Wash me Lord and make me clean! For I ask in Jesus’ Name.

8 Let me be happy and joyful! You crushed my bones, now let them celebrate.

9 Turn your eyes from my sin and cover my guilt.

10 Create pure thoughts in me and make me faithful again.

11 Don't chase me away from you or take your Holy Spirit away from me.

12 Make me as happy as you did when you saved me; make me want to obey!

Dear God, You must take away from me all sinful thoughts and imaginations and create in me pure thoughts and actions. May Your Holy Spirit constantly watch my heart and mind as I wholly give myself to You. Make me want to obey You and do Your will and please You, my Father God. Then, I will be truly happy.

13 I will teach sinners your Law, and they will return to you.

14 Keep me from any deadly sin. Only you can save me! Then I will shout and sing about your power to save.

15 Help me to speak, and I will praise you, Lord.

16 Offerings and sacrifices are not what you want.

17 The way to please you is to feel sorrow deep in our hearts. This is the kind of sacrifice you won't refuse.

Dear God, now I know, it is hypocrisy to offer You praise and sacrifices when I do not repent of my sin and forsake it. You won’t accept them.

O! Give me deep sorrow in my heart for the sins I have committed against You and caused You grief. Forgive me and please let Your Holy Spirit cause me to do things that please You. Let me then come and offer You acceptable sacrifices and service.

1 John 1

8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.

Lord, help me quickly own my sins, confess, repent and turn away from them. I thank You for You are faithful and just to forgive my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness.
