Psalm 18

1 For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love you, O LORD, my strength.

2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Dear Lord, I am in deep trouble and distress. I am afraid and I have no hope. There is no one to help. But YOU ARE MY ROCK, MY FORTRESS, MY DELIVERER, MY REFUGE, MY SHIELD, AND MY STRONGHOLD AND MY SALVATION.

3 I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.

O! Lord I call on You for You are worthy of Praise and You are my salvation.

4 The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.

5 The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me.

6 In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.

Dear Lord, I was so close to destruction and death. I called on You;

I cried out to You in my great distress. I thank You for You heard my voice from Your heavenly throne. My feeble cry came to ears. You heard me and me and helped me. I thank You and praise Your great name.

9 He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under his feet.

10 He mounted the cherubim and flew; he soared on the wings of the wind.

11 He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him-- the dark rain clouds of the sky.

12 Out of the brightness of his presence clouds advanced, with hailstones and bolts of lightning.

13 The LORD thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded.

14 He shot his arrows and scattered the enemies, great bolts of lightning and routed them.

15 The valleys of the sea were exposed and the foundations of the earth laid bare at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of breath from your nostrils.

16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters.

17 He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me.

18 They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support.

19 He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.

O! Lord, what a mighty God You are! You part the heavens and come down. You ride the clouds. Thick dark clouds and lightning are Your chariots. The thunder goes before You. You come down to help me! You reach down and take hold of me. You draw me out of deep waters and in the day of disaster, You alone are my help and deliverer. You rescue and cause me to delight in You. Forever I will praise Your great and mighty name

.

20 The LORD has dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.

21 For I have kept the ways of the LORD; I have not done evil by turning from my God.

22 All his laws are before me; I have not turned away from his decrees.

23 I have been blameless before him and have kept myself from sin.

24 The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.

25 To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless,

26 to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd.

27 You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.

28 You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.

29 With your help I can advance against a troop ; with my God I can scale a wall.

30 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.

31 For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God?

32 It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.

33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights.

34 He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

35 You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great.

You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn.

O! Lord, there is no God like You. You give me strength and help me along my way. You train me and sustain me and give me victory. You enable me to stand on the heights. You lead me in paths of righteousness. What a gracious God You are, for You stoop down to make me great!

Psalm 27

1 Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life-- of whom shall I be afraid?

Lord, be my light and my salvation. Let me not fear nor be afraid.

2 When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.

3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.

Lord, let me be confident in You. Let me not fear anyone or anything.

4 One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

Lord, help me to keep close to You in my thoughts always that I will know Your greatness and power.

5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.

Thank You Lord, when I am with You and You are with me, You will keep me safe.

6 Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.

7 Hear my voice when I call, O LORD; be merciful to me and answer me.

Lord, I thank you for when I call You will answer me. I will be glad and praise you with all my heart.

Psalm 91

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Lord, let me live close to You and make You my shelter. Let me find my rest in Your presence.

2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."

Lord, be my refuge in times of trouble for I trust in You.

3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence.

Lord, save me from all evil that surrounds me.

4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

Lord, cover me under Your strong arms. You only are my refuge.

5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.

O Lord, take away all my fears of troubles, distress or disease, even of darkness.

7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.

Lord, there is trouble and dangers all around me. Keep me safe. Lord, I pray, help me when I call on You.

9 If you make the Most High your dwelling-- even the LORD, who is my refuge--

10 then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.

Lord, I have made You my refuge and I want to be with You always. Keep me from all harm, danger and even disasters.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

Lord, I thank You for You have commanded Your angels to guard me and hold me up in their hands. Even though I cannot see them, I believe Your word. Keep me safe.

14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."

Yes, Lord, I love You with all my heart. I acknowledge You in all my ways. Hear my prayers and cry. Answer me. Deliver me from all my troubles. Save me and satisfy me, Lord.

Psalm 116

1 I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.

2 Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.

3 The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came upon me; I was overcome by trouble and sorrow.

4 Then I called on the name of the LORD: "O LORD, save me!"

Yes! Lord, I will praise You and call on You as long as I live because You have heard my prayer and my cry for mercy.

5 The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.

6 The LORD protects the simple hearted; when I was in great need, he saved me.

I thank You Lord for You are full of mercy and compassion. You protect the simple hearted. You saved me when I was in great need.

7 Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.

8 For you, O LORD, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling,

9 that I may walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

Dear Lord, quieten my heart before You and keep my soul at rest in Your presence. You have always been good to me. You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. That is why I walk before the LORD in the land of the living. Let me trust in You at all times and in all situations.

10 I believed; therefore I said, "I am greatly afflicted."

Dear Lord, when I complain and cry and mourn before You in my distress and disappointment, it is because “I believe in You!” It is not because I doubt or disbelieve You or Your love or Your power! Bear with me for I am but dust before You. Look in pity on me and my situation and help me out as You have always done.

12 How can I repay the LORD for all his goodness to me?

13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD.

14 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.

15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

16 O LORD, truly I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant ; you have freed me from my chains.

17 I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the LORD.

18 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people,

19 in the courts of the house of the LORD-- in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD.

Dear Lord, I love You, for You have heard my voice; You have heard my cry for mercy. Because You turned to me, I will call on You as long as I live. O! LORD, You are gracious and righteous; You are a God full of compassion. My soul will be at rest once more, for the LORD has been good to me. I thank You Lord and trust in You alone.

Psalm 118

5 In my anguish I cried to the LORD, and he answered by setting me free.

6 The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

7 The LORD is with me; he is my helper.

Dear Lord God, I cry to You for help. I am afraid. But I thank You for the promise that “You are my Helper and there is none other!”. I trust in You. Let me not be afraid. Help me and deliver me.

Luke 8

22 One day Jesus said to his disciples, "Let's go over to the other side of the lake." So they got into a boat and set out.

23 As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.

24 The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Master, Master, we're going to drown!" He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.

25 "Where is your faith?" he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, "Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him."

Dear Lord, I thank You for You are the Master of the wind and the waves and the storms of the nature. They obey Your voice. I have nothing to fear when I have made You my Master and You have made me Your child. You have said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." ( Heb 13.5) You never will. So I trust in You. Amen.
