Dr. Benjamin George is the eldest son of the late Mr. P.V.George of Kerala, South India, who was a missionary, pastor, preacher and author of great standing in the Church and the society. His grandfathers on both sides were also great evangelists and church workers. His mother and grandmothers too were devout and active Christians. Into this God-fearing and dedicated family with the distinguished heritage of the Syrian Christians, Dr. George was born in the year 1928. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and was baptised at a very early age. He was a keen Christian as a student and helped in college Christian fellowships. After graduating in Medicine in 1955, Dr. George married Miss Thankam, a graduate in Arts, also from Kerala.
Dr. George served the Tiruvalla Medical Mission Hospital for some time before he and his wife came to Malaysia in 1956. He joined the Ministry of Health and began his medical career as the medical officer in charge of the then Government First Class Specialist Hospital, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. In 1959, he joined the Kuala Lumpur Municipality and served as a staff medical officer. Later, he worked in the various Municipal maternity and infant welfare clinics in the different parts of the city, mainly looking after thousands of the poor and the needy.
He moved into the private sector in 1967, starting one of the earliest 24-hour family and maternity practices in the Pudu area, a poorer section of the town. During the next ten years of practice, he had the privilege of looking after hundreds of families and delivering more than a thousand babies!
He ventured into Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery in 1976, after receiving training in Japan at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Hospital under one of the pioneering professors in the field.
FOUR DECADES OF CHRISTIAN MINISTRY
Moving into this new field of cosmetic surgery which was less hectic with no emergencies, he found much time to devote to his over-riding passion – ministering to the spiritual needs of the people and serving God and His kingdom. He has been in the leadership in the Brethren church and a number of Para-church organisations, including the Bible Society, the International Youth For Christ, the International Gideons Association, Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship and several others for over 40 years!

Together with his wife, he had the privilege and the blessing of God to bring up two boys and two girls for the Lord and they are well settled in life.

The first daughter, Leela, a graduate from USA, is married to an ENT surgeon, Dr. K.M. Mathew, trained in U.K.
The youngest daughter, Grace, staying with her parents, has an MBA from the States and runs her own kindergarten. She helps her father with the editing of his Daily E-mail Devotionals.
By the grace of God, all the children and their families are devout Christians and serving the Lord in their own capacity, in the church and outside. All the members of the family except for one daughter and her family, who are in another state, currently worship at the Full Gospel Assembly of Kuala Lumpur.
PASSIONATE REVIVAL PREACHER
Dr. George spends much of his time preaching revival and encouraging the Church and all Christians in Malaysia and outside to awaken from their sleep and lethargy and prepare themselves and others for the soon coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
DISCIPLING CHRISTIANS IN EVERY CHURCH IS HIS VISION, MISSION AND PASSION
He published a book ‘TOWARDS 2000 – REACHING THE WORLD’S BILLIONS’ in 1985 and it was reprinted a year later. 20,000 copies have been sold. The book was a great challenge to the churches, leaders and Christians to forge new visions for the year 2000 and beyond!
Dr. George’s latest book is on making disciples of every Christian in every church and equipping them to be ‘Disciple Makers’. He sees it as ‘THE CHALLENGE FOR THE CHURCH FOR THE NEW MILLENNIUM’. The book is aptly titled, “QUIT BEING A SUNDAY CHRISTIAN- BECOME AN EVERYDAY CHRISTIAN". The first print of 5000 is almost sold out. The book is a clear clarion call to every Christian to become ‘A disciple of Christ and a Tentmaker in the market place!’ It challenges all church leaders to make every effort to bring about a paradigm shift in their church programmes to convert their 'Sunday Christians to become disciples and disciple makers.'
PREACHING AND TEACHING MINISTRY IN THE CHURCHES
He regularly preaches in churches and conducts teaching sessions, seminars and camps on discipling. He encourages the believers in ministering ‘one to another’ in the church, and calls on the leaders to equip them for it, as the Scripture demands. Dr. George encourages ‘Discipleship Pairs’ for spiritual growth and for the accountability of members in the church.
